MI LE MA LA
Mi-la-ma-la explores the relationship between the divine and the human, combining both profound symbolism and a playful sense of fantasy. The title, which questions "Who is above?" and suggests a fatalistic acceptance of what happens on Earth, sets the tone for a journey that is as much about philosophical reflection as it is about artistic expression.
The structure of the piece—thirteen pictures, each potentially representing a stage or facet of life—along with the imagery of a ballet barre, a mirror, point shoes, a tutu, and a flying blue dress, invokes a blend of movement, visual art, and storytelling that feels both grounded in the physical and elevated in its spiritual themes.
The concept of a "modern trinity" in the cast of 3 dancers carries significance. In many traditions, the idea of a trinity represents unity in diversity, balance, or the interplay between different aspects of being. Here, the dancers change roles and characters throughout the piece, suggesting fluidity and transformation, mirroring the transitions between the earthly and the divine, the physical and the metaphysical.
