A PEELING

This work tries to emotionally capture the profound connection between personal pain, collective trauma, and the search for hope. The act of peeling transforms into a meditative ritual for sorrow

The reference to "potato people" evokes a sense of vulnerability—a shedding of outer layers that reveals raw humanity—complemented by the stirring music of Elgar's Cello Concerto.

The lack of identity is manifested by faceless people The physical connection between the dancers creates a heartfelt narrative of resilience. The intertwining of arms and legs hints at the weaving of pain and potential for unity.

Friedland’s choreography, combined with Oded Ronen’s dramaturgical sensitivity, offers more than a performance—it becomes a collective act of memory, healing, and the search for a "language of connection without sound." The creative choice to merge peeling with dance and music turns a mundane act into a testament for survival and hope.
